The Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Big Cypress location currently has several permanent exhibits, temporary exhibits, and sometimes features travelling exhibits. Currently in the galleries, Tools of War and From Surviving to Thriving: An Everglades Economy, are featured. The permanent exhibits include rare glimpses into the ceremonial Green Corn Dance, the game of stickball, the telling of legends, and more. Past exhibits have included, Osceola Remembered which featured artifacts from the brave warrior Osceola, who resisted Indian Removal in the 1830s and Cattle Keepers, which recalled the exciting history of cattle ranching in the Seminole Tribe.
There is also a great orientation movie which explains Seminole culture and history. While you are at the museum, take a stroll into a cypress dome on a 1.5 mile boardwalk. Enjoy the nature and sounds of the Everglades as you walk along and read about the Seminole medicinal uses of native plants. Stop in the Clans pavillion to learn about Seminole Clan and family structures. There is also a living village where many Seminole elders make beautiful pieces of art and chat the day away with our guests. While you are on the boardwalk, look for the small icons to call in your cell phone tour.
Guided tours are available at the front desk.
